24 Festive Tasks: Hanukkah

Square Nineteen

Book: Read a book about light, miracles, featuring Jewish characters, set in Israel, that is the second book in a series, with the word “two” in the title, or with a light on the cover.

Stamboul Train by Graham Greene (read by Michael Maloney)
I picked this book because my edition has a light on the cover. I read it so long ago that the only thing I remembered about the book was that it took place on the Orient Express.  Little did I remember what a powerhouse the novel is.  As the story unfolds it is clear that this story is built on the stereotypes and prejudices of the 1930s: classist, racist, sexual, anti-feminist, anti-semitic, political, Greene has not missed a one.  It seethes with hate and mistrust.

Task 1: Time to play dreidel! Pick four books from your TBR that you want to get to in 2021. Assign each book one of the sides of the dreidel:

נ (Nun)  The Man in the Brown Suit
ג (Gimel) Curse of Braeburn Castle
ה (He) Busman's Holiday
ש (Shin) Great Courses: History of Ancient Egypt

Now play the dreidel here: http://www.torahtots.com/holidays/cha...

Your result is the first book you will read in 2021.

Task 2: Read by flashlight or candlelight. Post a picture.
