24 Festive Tasks: Sinterklaas/St. Nicolas Day

 Square Six

A Stitch in Time By cover art Book: Read a story involving children or a young adult book, or set in the Middle Ages, or a book whose cover is primarily orange (for the Dutch House of Orange) or red (for St. Nick's robes / cloak), or a book with oranges, tangerines, walnuts, chocolates or cookies on the cover.

A Stitch in Time by Monica Ferris (read by Susan Boyce)
A cozy mystery found in the Audible Plus Catalog after I could not find anything suitable in my own library

Task 1: Create a book wish list for one of your favorite book characters, or pick 3 books for that character to receive from St. Nick.

For Miles Calverleigh, St. Nick is bringing The Phantom Tollbooth, The Birth of Broadcast Journalism and  The Trustee From the Toolroom.  A bit of time travel for a nabob.

Task 2: Share with us a paragraph / quote / description / image of your favorite Santa Claus / St. Nick depiction in popular culture, and then tell us why it resonates with you?"

Taking a 'pass' on this one.

Bonus Task: You are King / Queen for the day and can have 3 wishes (not book related): one for yourself, one for your community (any version) and one for the world: What are they?

  • For myself, I wish an unending stock of patience.
  • For my community,  I wish for a  revived spirit of community, where we all work together to solve the problems that face our community, not just during the pandemic but always
  • For the world, I wish for the end of all tyrants, including the one called COVID-19.
